Our Top 3 Motorhomes Under 3500kg
20.06.23
Bigger doesn’t necessarily mean best! Motorhomes that clock in at under 3,500kg in weight can be driven right off the forecourt on a standard UK driving licence. This alone makes them the perfect choice for ‘beginners’ or for those couples and families who prefer a more compact and convenient experience. A vehicle above that weight and there are further tests to undertake – and pass! - to gain the correct C1 classification on your driving licence. For many people this is just not a necessary process to go through when a motorhome below 3,500kg doesn’t just provide an adequate experience but an excellent one, perfectly suited to their requirements.
In this edition of our blog, we’ll run through a trio of our true faves – a veritable ‘top of the pops’ of lower-weight class motorhomes…
(1) Auto Trail Imala
With 2022 and 2023 models available right now at Continental, Auto-Trail motorhomes across the Imala range capitalise on the company’s reputation for excellence and are a cut above as compact vehicles. The 2023 Auto-Trail Imala 615, for example, is a terrific two-berth packed with comfort features, good looking and geared towards couples who want to get out on the road to enjoy romantic breaks or holidays exploring.
There’s a kitchen towards the rear, which means all of your culinary needs are catered for – and so you’ll be whipping up those romantic meals for two with absolute ease. This space is very well-kitted and comfortable – none of the ‘crammed-in cooking’ you might imagine with a lower-weight class of motorhome. The living area at the front of the Imala 615 really makes the most of the available space and capitalises on cab seats which turn to face the interior. You’ll be able to entertain the guests you meet along the way on your travels.
There are larger Auto-Trail A-class motorhomes available for more seasoned travellers, but we think the Imala – in whichever iteration - is a simply brilliant motorhome to begin your on-the-road adventures.
(2) Roller Team Zefiro
The Zefiro sounds like it should have some zing – so we’re happy to report that it does! Roller Team motorhomes are renowned for their excellence – and the company has once again rolled out the red carpet for you with this one.
It’s a fresh looking four-berth – ideal for small families or couples travelling with guests, as it features an electric drop-down double bed plus a fixed double at the rear. The rear bed has a huge storage compartment underneath – ideal for all those things you’ve been worried about having the room to take along. It’s a great vehicle for adventure families who like to park up and pedal off into the countryside – an easy-to-use fitted bike rack on the rear exterior is just the ticket (to ride).
With plenty of other features designed for comfort and convenience (including cab air con, double view colour reversing camera, solar panel, and cruise control with speed limiter function) the Roller Team Zefiro is well geared up. It’s a lower-weight class motorhome which will challenge your perception of what’s possible.
(3) Bailey Adamo
There is a choice of options in the lower-weight class Adamo range available from Continental, each edition proving once again that Bailey motorhomes are something special. We’ll dig into the Adamo 60-4, here.
With a quality essential specification and additional features throughout, the Adamo 60-4 is a fantastic four-berth for families who want to hit the road with some of that famous Bailey brilliance at their backs. It’s kitted out for cosy evenings in – an electric pedestal table in the lounge area is perfect for those games of cards or for when you’re indulging in a cuppa, plus there are USB points for device charging, DAB radio so everyone can get their favourite sounds, and an omnidirectional TV aerial and TV bracket so you can tune in to the top shows (don’t forget to get a TV onboard, that is).
There are plenty of cool driving features, too, so whoever is at the helm can take the country roads in comfort – a multi-functional trip computer, cruise control and rain-sensing windscreen wipers. The Adamo is a four-berth with an electric drop-down double bed and, below it, a convertible double – so everyone can get their sleep in comfort after long days of adventuring and exploring.
Here at Continental, we stock a vast array of lower-weight class motorhomes – new and used – and each one, as we said at the top of this edition of our blog, can be driven straight off the forecourt on a standard UK driving licence. You can browse our website to check out the others, the ones we’ve not had the room to mention here, and if you fancy further details on any of them we’re more than happy to answer any queries you might have. Happy lower-weight class motorhoming!
