For a start motorhomes under 3,500kg are usually relatively compact – and therefore easily manoeuvrable for almost every driver. The smaller nature and lighter weight of this class of vehicles makes them ideal for first-timers or couples. We’d always advise some shorter runs to get yourself used to the particular feel and driver handling of your new motorhome, even though it’s under 3,500kg, but in theory you could drive her straight off the forecourt and set off on a short break or holiday!

That’s because the other main talking point is that you don’t need to undergo additional testing to achieve a new classification to be able to drive them. Bailey Adamo 75-4 DL: Coming for 2023 is the Bailey Adamo 75-4 DL. This is a four berth beauty from Bailey motorhomes, one of the most well established UK manufacturers, which has over 70 years of experience producing quality leisure vehicles. The 75-4 DL sees Bailey advance their offer by building on the Ford Transit chassis for the first time (up to now its coachbuilt motorhomes were on the Peugeot Boxer). The 160bhp automatic engine offers power and performance, while the exterior looks great, featuring 16” alloy wheels and metallic ‘silver’ painted cab.

With everything a couple or small family could need for life on the road, the 75-4 DL comes packed with interior features. For a start, the lounge at the front of the vehicle features bench seating and an electrical pedestal table with multi-directional swivel. The front cab seats rotate to face the interior of the motorhome, and this space provides a comfortable social environment. Above it is an electric drop-down double bed, complementing the bench seating in the bedroom at the rear which converts into a double bed. The bedroom area also features plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space so storing all of the your wares you take on your trips won’t be an issue. There is also a well-equipped kitchen (fridge freezer, four burner hob, full oven and grill plus microwave) and a convenient washroom featuring a shower, sink and toilet.

Auto-Trail F-Line F60

Based on the Ford Transit chassis, the F60 is a great entry level Auto-Trail coachbuilt motorhome which can be driven on a UK cat B driving licence. This is a six-metre long vehicle which feels spacious and includes four berths (convertible bench seating for one double, and an electric drop-down for the other – if you’re travelling as a couple you may find it most convenient to use this as your master bed). The interior layout features a side sofa lounge, a panoramic overcab rooflight and no fixed table (so you can bring your own for those all-important meals and other social moments). The galley features worktop space for prep and cooking convenience, plus an oven / grill and three-burner hob and fridge / freezer. The washroom is at the rear of the vehicle, making it spacious and welcoming, and includes a separate shower plus good storage and wardrobe space, too.

Other attractive key features of the F60 include motorhome specific sat nav, over-cab storage, panoramic roof light to maximise internal ambience, external gas BBQ point, rain sensing windscreen wipers and cab seats which swivel to face the interior.
